Military absentee ballots still in a quagmire

It seems to me that people whose primary job it is to protect our right to vote ought to be afforded the same privilege.  But the Democrat majority in congress has proven again that their rhetoric about supporting the troops in not just empty rhetoric, it is barren.  A measure to improve how military absentee voting is handled was gunned down by almost ever democrat in the House.  The measure would have simplified the current absentee ballot process for millions of service personnel and their spouses based here and abroad, but the current process  fails to account for even half of the eligible votes, and by some estimates significantly less than that.  With members of the military overwhelmingly voting Republican it’s hard to ignore the benefits to democrats if millions of absentee ballots can’t or don’t get counted.

Dems “No drilling, even at $10/gallon” (!?!)

Take this for what it’s worth, but it is worth watching.

Jeanne Shaheen on the economy

Jeanne Shaheen on the economy (from jeanneshaheen.org)

It’s time our economy worked for middle class families again. For the past seven years, wages have remained stagnant while the price of everything else – from a gallon of gas to a gallon of milk – has gone through the roof.

Liar!  It’s only been 2 years not 7.

Prior to 2006 we had historically low 4.5% unemployment, the Dow was at 14,000, and gas was $2.00/gallon.   Wage growth was slow but steady (and actually above average in New Hampshire) behind 24 consecutive quarters of  GDP growth, and there was a very real upward mobility from both the lower and middle classes to the middle and upper classes.  So what happened?

Democrats took control of congress. Since 2006, gas has doubled in price, unemployment is at 5.6%, and the Dow is down 2000 points.  None of this has been good for the Middle Class.  All of it came on the Democrats watch, and because congress sets all fiscal and spending policy it’s clear who must be held responsible.  so I’m thinking the one thing New Hampshire families  do not need is another democrat in congress.

Oil update.

[Updated]

Oil is now under $125/barrel, and still trending steadily downward.  That’s a drop of $22/per barrel since lifting executive restrictions.  The one year forcast has also started to drop, down to $161 from $166.  This is a good sign.

But will it last?  It’s a good steady trend over almost two weeks.  But how long before democrats try to take credit for it?  I’d be happy to give them credit if they came together with some of that bi-partisan unity they always crow about.

Fingers crossed.
